- Curator's comments
- The Catalogue Général dates the medal 1916, but this presumably refers to the circular, smaller version, not the larger, rectangular one which is also refenced in that catalogue entry and is illustrated. The date of c.1919, as given by Attwood, is based on Prud'homme's 'Alsace' medal, which is very similar in composition and style and is inscribed with the date 1919.
