- Curator's comments
- According to Maier, a competition was held to design a prize medal and a commemorative medal for the 1889 Universal Exhibition in Paris. Bottée's design was chosen for the former and that by Daniel-Dupuis for the latter. A cast as well as a struck version of the commemorative medal was produced.
For another version of the struck medal, see 1906,1103.757.
