This medal normally occurs with a reverse showing a small round temple, containing a statue of Justice, with the legend TEMPLVM THEMIDIS RESTITVTVM (the temple of Themis restored). It was struck to commemorate works carried out on the Parlement building under Nicolas de Verdun's presidency.
Nicolas de Verdun (d. 1627) was the son of Nicolas de Verdun and Nicole d'Aubespine. Conseiller of the Paris Parlement from March 1583, he was appointed President of the Toulouse Parlement by Henri IV and President of the Paris Parlement by Louis XIII in 1616.
