The format is similar the Dupré's medal of 1610 (registration no. 1906,1103.1400) and to a group of medals of Henri IV (Mazerolle II nos 647-651).
The medal presumably represents an attempt to draw a parallel between Louis XIII and his sainted ancestor with reference to the former's assumption of the soubriquet 'the Just'.
