- Curator's comments
- According to Peck writting about this and other coins like it "undoubtedly struck officially, and had they been in tin there might have been some grounds for believing them to be early patterns, designed as an alternative to the superimposed busts, but as the latter style was used consistently throughout the reign for all metals, and Britannia appeared without a hint of change on the reverse of all the tin and copper issues, it is extremely unlikely that these pieces are anything more than medalets. They are recorded here for the present, sub judice."
