Leube Dapa was the Acehnese ruler of Susoh in the southern Aceh region. He contracted with a private company established by British officials of Bengkulu in southwestern Sumatra to sell pepper in 1787, which became a very successful venture. The Susu on the coin refers to Susoh. By 1804, the date on this coin, the various rulers of the southern Aceh regions produced about a quarter of the world's supply of pepper.

Saran Singh notes that the reverse inscription is in Jawi and reads "Susu 1804", that one type was struck in London, mint unknown; and another was struck at a mint in Susu, Sumatra, and was issued by a rebel chief, Lebi Dapa, who ruled over the area around the port of Susu in Sumatra, and was the prototype for the fighting cock tokens issued by the Singapore merchants. - Saran Singh, "The Coins of Malaysia, Singapore and Brunei, 1400-1986" (Malaysia Numismatic Society, Kuala Lumpur, 1986, pp. 469-470.
