- Curator's comments
- The emperor is depicted with the trappings of a successful Roman military commander on the elaborate obverse. The reverse shows Constantinopolis, the Tyche/Fortuna (city goddess) of the eastern capital, with her traditional pose and accoutrements except for her mural crown (in the form of city walls) which is here replaced by the imperial diadem.
