Description
Porcelain saucer-shaped dish. The dish has a fine white body. There is a river scene containing a boat and two figures in the foreground, a pagoda in the middle distance in pale ink-like enamel, and the sun and slight details in red enamel in the centre of the interior. Pair with PDF 843.

Room 95 label text: PDF 842 Dish with a river scene This dish is painted in ink-like black enamel, with a river scene showing a boat and two figures in the foreground and a pagoda in the middle distance. Some details are picked out in iron red. It is a pair with PDF 842. There is a four-character hallmark on the base雅雨堂製 (Yayu tang zhi ‘Made for the Hall of Gentle Rain’) in a single column in iron-red. Porcelain with overglaze enamels Jingdezhen, Jiangxi province 江西省, 景德鎮 Qing dynasty, about AD 1700–1800
