The 麒麟(qilin 'mythical beast') figure serving as an incense stick holder is extremely rare. Potters decorated it in a twice-fired technique called 五彩 (wucai ‘five colours’) composed of underglaze cobalt-blue and overglaze red, yellow, and green. It has a six-character Wanli reign mark.
