Serving dish with carved dragon
Potters carved a dragon among clouds in the centre of this large serving dish and a floral scroll in the cavetto before covering it with a thick celadon glaze and firing. This dish was collected in India. It represents the final great stage of production at the Longquan kilns and was made for the Yongle emperor. The character福 (fu ‘happiness’) is incised on the centre of the base.
