Room 95 label text: PDF 245 Dish with characters and lotus Potters employed a reusable carved intaglio mould to produce this dish which sped up the production process. Three bunches of lotus plants tied with ribbons are shown with other water plants inside and with three cartouches each framing a single character which together read 三把蓮 (san ba lian ‘three bunches of lotus’). A sherd with a similar design, dating to the late Northern Song was excavated at Tongchuan city, Shaanxi province where this was made.
