- Curator's comments
- This dish was made for presentation to the Tokugawa shogun and his advisors by the Nabeshima daimyo. Made at Okawachi-yama official domain kiln, this dish incorporates the design of the hare in the moon and also takes the shape of a peach of immortality. This exterior has a design of waves referring to a Noh play, Chikubu-shima.
