Jacket; part of woman's festival costume As.1998.1.54 to 57. Base cloth of manufactured cotton twill, dyed black. On reverse of collar is piece of unbleached cotton applied and embroidered in pink and green cross-stitch with geometric design divided into three identical units. Centre front edges and round neck bound in manufactured blue cotton, embroidered in cross-stitch in repeated units in red, white and green. On top of this is tacked a silver/alloy chain of linked ovals. At bottom is whipped edge in red and white with touch of green.

- Curator's comments
- Jacket is worn over the skirt and skirt ties are fastened over the back of the jacket. When cold, and at festivals to demonstrate wealth, numerous jackets, as many as twelve, are worn on top of one another. Jacket fastens left to right.
