- See jacket sleeves on As.1998.1.376. Woman buy paper cuts from market, as pattern for sleeve decoration. They are made the following way:
i) 10-15 pieces of paper are laid on top of each other
ii) holes are made with the needle through all the pieces; twisted paper plugs are then placed through holes and sheets held in place
iii) design pencilled on top
iv) paper then cut out with knife over wooden board with centre of wax
v) design held within a frame
vi) lines of dots made with an awl, marking the detail of the design and used as a guidelines for colour changes.
The paper pattern is then stuck on pieces of base cloth, which will be later sewn on the jacket.
