Girl's skirt for festival costume As.1998.1.352 to 353. Highly pleated with two narrow ties. Base cloth of cotton dyed in indigo to almost black and beaten with red sheen, pleats stiffened. Constructed in 22 vertical pieces and folded waistband. Decorated with lines of four narrow applied strips of cloth in red, maroon, black and blue. Ties are hand-woven in red and blues with reversible warp pattern.
