Front skirt; from married and unmarried woman's market day and festival costume As.1998.1.256 to 262. Identical to back skirt As.1998.1.257. Base cloth of hand-woven cotton, dyed to dark blue with some sheen. Constructed in shaped waistband of doubled-over cloth with loops either side (of diamond weave cloth), and ties of twisted cotton. Main skirt of seven widths seamed at selvedges. Finely pleated with gathering in place below waistband.
