'I have in my possession a complete costume of a Kachin woman. This includes three metal (?silver?) neck rings. They belonged to my mother who acquired them when touring the area during the cold weather of 1937 with my father Raibeart M. MacDougall, ICS, at that time Commissioner Sagaing ... I also have a (man's I think) bag, heavily ornamented with silver(?) ...''
