Relevant André Doré collections are 1971As.6 and 1971As.11; this item may well be 1971As11.1 which has not been identified and for which no entry has been made in Register (and no computer record exists). Compare Donors' Book entry - description very similar. (AMD,6/1994).

The fish design is very clear. The animals depicted (except for the fish, some of the birds and the rat) are mystical (they look like combinations of animals). There is a cat-like animal on the top of the lid. The same mystical bird-like characters that occur on the base are found embossed on the outside. The animals are found between plant-like in-fill typical of Southeast Asia. From comments made by Baas Terwiel on 25/03/2008
