This puppet is called Matali, but it could also be a generic soldier or emissary. It could also be Prince Panji in disguise. It is a very unusual piece, especially the style of the hair.

- M L J Lemaire was a Tribal Art dealer based in Amsterdam. He acquired the shadow puppets from a Dutch colonial official who had been based in Bali and returned to the Netherlands with the puppets just after the First World War.
