Print, colour woodblock. The kabuki actors Suketakaya Shirogoro I as the palanquin bearer Azuma no Yoshiro and Matsumoto Koshiro V as the palanquin bearer Naniwa no Jirosaku, in the dance ‘Aikata soete akindo’ (相肩添商人), a version of ‘Modori Kago’ (戻駕); performed at the Ichimura-za in the 12th month of 1807. - Curator's comments
- This dance was performed from the 2nd of the 12th month as a late addition to the kaomise programme. It is not recorded in the ‘ehon banzuke’ nor in the ‘yakuwari banzuke’, and there is no mention of it in the ‘Kabuki Nendaiki’. (Paul Griffith, 18/01/2022.)
