The kabuki actors (right) Ichikawa Ebizo V as Matsuomaru; (centre) Ichikawa Komazo V as Umeomaru; (left) Iwai Shijaku I as Sakuramaru, in Act III, the scene ‘Kuruma-biki’ (車引), from the play ‘Sugawara denju tenarai kagami’, by Takeda Izumo, Miyoshi Shoraku and Namiki Senryu; performed at the Kawarasaki-za in the 3rd month of 1838.
