- Curator's comments
- This exchange of dialogue takes place close to the start of Act VII. In his dishevelled state, the Chief Retainer Oboshi Yuranosuke is pretending to be drunk as he ridicules the lowly footman Teraoka Heiemon. Having heard there is a plan to avenge the death of their lord, Heiemon is pleading to be allowed to join the group of loyal retainers but, wary of the enemy, Yuranosuke denies that such a plan exists.
