- Description

Photograph (black and white); Two convicts begging for alms whilst wearing manacles on their ankles. This photograph appears in the middle of a series of images taken at the annual Gun and Arrow Shooting competition and Hopkinson describes seeing many beggars on that occasion. It may be, therefore, that this photograph was taken on that day. They are protruding their tongues in the conventional sign of respect and pleading. Tibet.
