Woodblock triptych print, oban tate-e. Scene from the kabuki play 'Kotoba no hana momiji no sakari', showing the actors Ichimura Uzaemon XII as Asa-maru, son of Tadakiyo, standing and wearing a white gown covered by calligraphy (left), Bando Shuka, as Hakuyu, wife of Tadakiyo, reclining wearing a floral patterned gown holding a Buddhist image emitting rays across all three sheets (centre), and Nakamura Utaemon IV as Katsushige standing with a hoe behind his back (right).
