- Curator's comments
- The subject and view recall Hiroshige's print of Kanaya station from the 'Gyosho Tokaido' series (1968,0617,0.3). Similar combination of green hill and dark mountain in Hiroshige's prints of Shimada station from the 'Upright Tokaido' series (1915,0823,0.745) and 'Tsutaya Tokaido' series (1915,0823,0.153.24). Poem inscribed on fan also inscribed on Shimada view in Hiroshige's 'harimaze Tokaido' (scrapbook-style Tokaido) series (1906,1220,0.864).
