Pair of cymbals of the type used in Buddhist ritual throughout the Himalayas, in the Tibetan diaspora, in Tibet, China – and throughout the world where Tibetan-style Buddhism is practised. They are made of cast, annealed, beaten and polished bell-metal (an Indian high-tin bronze) and each of the pair has, passing through a central hole, a scarlet cloth used to hold and play them with.
