- This rare book includes two self-portraits of Hokusai and confirms one reading of his signature Tokitaro Sorobeku (Kako). It has later inscriptions by three major scholars of Hokusai: Hayashi; Keyes and Hillier. This copy is rebound and incomplete (only has folios 6-14).

- The book was rebound by Hayashi in 1884 and re-stitched and given a new handmade cover by Jack Hillier after 1979. The album leaves were cut into single pages and lined with paper supports, which were then rebound into a Japanese style book.
