- Description
-
Gilded and lacquered bronze sculpture of the seated and crowned Buddha. He is depicted with his left hand in his lap and his right hand in bhumisparsamudra, suggesting the moment of the Enlightenment. He is seated on a waisted triangular throne on which lightly engraved lotus petals can be seen. The once elaborate crown is now broken. It is missing the top most finial and some of the triangular elements of the crown are broken; the side flanges typical of post-Pagan scultpure are also broken. It has been made using the lost-wax process and the clay core is still visible inside.
