- Object: Yashoda and baby Krishna
Painting from an album bound in red silk print containing 21 Rajput, Mughal and Provincial Mughal miniature paintings.
Yashoda, garbed in gold and purple dress, seated on a gold and red cushioned chair holds a blue coloured infant, the baby Krishna on her lap. She offers her breast to the child who plays with his mother's necklace. The infant is naked apart from a gold thread running around its waist and chest, gold anklets and bracelets. The setting is that of a white terrace, the background is a bright green unmodulated expanse of colour. The sky above the high horizon is shaded mauve with wispy white clouds.
