Miniature betel box with two internal trays, made of coiled and woven split bamboo. Decorated with red and green lacquer - on the outside of both the lid and the drum this is done in the yun technique with the za-yun design. Good red colour to the lacquer of the interior of the smaller internal tray; the larger (lower) of the two internal trays has a brownish red lacquer interior - perhaps re-lacquered. The whole, slightly bumped.

- Under this entry in the unpublished Isaacs catalogue, it says, '... and a tiny copper lime-box inside when purchased.' This did not come with the vessel at the time of the deposit of the gift.
