- Flower vase
Mino or Ofuke ware, 17th century.
The incised decoration under the pale green glaze of this ware is reminiscent of the old Seto style Kamakura period (1185-1333) ware which attempted to imitate Chinese Song dynasty celadon. This Seto style was continued at Mino, and nearby Ofuke where similar clear pale green glazed wares were further decorated with floral and similar simple painted motifs. (label copy, VH, 1999)
