- Curator's comments
- 2016 National Research Institute of Cultural Heritage catalogue entries:
'These sculptures are pair of guardians from an unknown tomb, carved from long rectangular stone blocks. Each wears an civil official's robe and hat. Their posture and hands are in the pose of holding an audience tablet that is not represented. The face is round, and the features, especially nose, is sturdy and exaggerated. The large, curved sleeves are carved deeply, but no other aspects of the robe are represented. The tall base is roughly cut with chisel. The exaggerated forms and the simplified carving suggest that they are of the late Joseon period.'
