Figure (votive group). A representation of the birth of the Buddha. His mother stands holding the tree and supported by her sister, Gotami. The figure at the front is the baby future Buddha, Prince Siddhartha. At his birth he takes seven steps, which this scene is illustrating. Made of openwork cast bronze.
