Petit (1973, Descriptive List of Plates, no. 79) translates the title as 'Concert for Self C'. He states that the main edition was of twenty sheets and that the printing was executed by laying down the foil first over adhesive and letting it dry, before printing from four blocks (two faced with 'shina' and two with 'rawan') on 'torinoko' paper. The pigments were 'sumi' (carbon ink) and 'ganryo' (mineral pigment), both diluted to produce the grey tones. There is a classic simplicty in this print which recalls the native Japanese fondness for ink-painting gently combined with gold wash. The central gold shape, however, already anticipates the artist's use of driftwood found in many of her later works. The physical force of the printing also looks forward to the 'gauffrage' which was to become another important characteristic of her work.
