- Curator's comments
- This dish was made at the Okawachi-yama kiln in the 19th century. Professor Ohashi Koji has uncovered records that show that the wife of the Nabeshima daimyo ordered ceramics be made with butterfly patterns as gifts to other daimyo wives. This dish is probably an example of that order. (NCR, 2016)
