Theatre fans receiving an actor who specialises in female roles (seated, left page) in the upstairs party room of a theatre tea house. The occasion is the opening-of-the-season (kaomise) performances in the 11th month.(Label copy, TTC 1999)

Life in Edo throughout the year by one of the foremost 'Ukiyoe' artists. About 1850 a new edition was published in colour, with the heads recut to bring the style of hairdressing up to date.
