This blade is 'shinogi zukuri' and has a medium 'kissaki'. The unmodified tang has one hole and the file marks are 'kiri'. The tang tip is 'kurijiri'. The grain is closely packed, almost indiscernible 'koitame'. There is a straight 'yakidashi' to the 'hamon', leading to a rather luxuriant 'gunome choji' with 'ashi' in 'nioi' with a tight 'nioiguchi'. The 'boshi' is standard komaru type.
The scabbard (not illustrated) is lacquered with powdered shell 'nashiji'. The 'fuchi' and 'kashira' are of 'shibuichi' illustrated with Chinese figures. The 'menuki' and 'tsuba' are also of 'shibuichi' decorated with chrysanthemums sculpted and inlaid in coloured metals.
