This is a ‘shinogi zukuri’ blade with ‘saki zori’ and a medium ‘kissaki’. The long unmodified tang has one hole and the file marks are ‘kiri’. The tang tip is ‘ha agari kurijiri’. The grain is an almost indiscernible, closely packed ‘koitame’. There is a gently sloping ‘yakidashi’ and the ‘hamon’ is luxuriant ‘choji’ mixed with ‘kobushi gata choji’, with ‘ashi’. The ‘boshi’ is straightforward ‘komaru’. The sword resembles the work of Kawachi no kami Kunisuke and may be a conscious imitation. It has a gilded, single-piece ‘habaki’.
The scabbard is lacquered black with alternating bands of polished and matt lacquer. The ‘fuchi’ and ‘kashira’ are of drums in gold inlay on ‘shakudo’, and the ‘menuki’ are in the form of bows and arrows in gold and ‘shakudo’. The ‘tsuba’ is of ‘shibuichi’ with linked ‘cloisonné’ patterns.
