Unusually this round porcelain box has a high domed cover and stands on a low foot ring. Using a palette which falls somewhere between doucai and famille verte, it is decorated with underglaze blue and overglaze green, yellow, red, black and blue enamels. The tray is painted with fruiting grape vines and rocks while the cover is painted with lotuses, chrysanthemums, rocks and gorse-like flowers. The base carries an underglaze blue six character apocryphal Chenghua kaishu reign mark in a double ring.
