- Description
-
Delicately painted in doucai enamels, this porcelain box is molded in the form of a figure of eight with a flat cover and a recessed base. The body bears a design of four mythical creatures, rather like chi dragons, with horns and bifurcated tails with a spearhead border above and below. The cover is painted with ten iron-red bats and two stylised round 壽shou [longevity] characters. The sides of the cover are ornamented with the Three Friends of Winter: pine, prunus and bamboo.
