- The earliest known picture calendar' (e-goyomi) - a genre of Ukiyo-e prints in which the numbers of the long' (30 day) and short' (29 day) months of the official lunar calendar for the coming year are hidden in the text or the design - was published in 17**. This early example hides the numbers of the short months (2,4,6,7,9,11) of 1726 in the dancing calligraphic outlines of Otafuku's robes: the numbers of the long months (1,3,5,8,10,12) are in the words of the inscription above.
