- Curator's comments
- The term ryosho 両所 in the title probably refers to the Inner 内宮and Outer 外宮 Shrines of the Ise Shrine complex. Kagura is a regular part of shrine rituals, so this print might have been produced in relation to a shrine rebuilding, when interest in making a pilgrimage to Ise would have reached a peak. Sengu rebuildings during Toyoharu's lifetime occurred in 1769 (明和6年）、1789（寛政元年）、and 1809 (文化6年）. The likely date for this print would seem to be c 1770.
