- Curator's comments
- Harrison-Hall 2001:
The treatment of the lotus scroll here is very similar to a design on the exterior of a small dish excavated in September 1974 in Jiangxi province in the eastern suburbs of Jingdezhen in a tomb dated on the basis of an epitaph tablet to 1453, the fourth year of Jingtai. The dramatic form of these vases is not seen in commercial kiln vases after the fifteenth century.
