- Curator's comments
- The Dutch text and inscription includes the date 1807.
Paired with 1939,0311,0.6.42.
This drawing has a similar layout to 1939,0311,0.6.29 which includes the names of W Wardenaar, Du Bois, and van der Geugten in the Dutch text.
In 1802, Nicolaus Engelhard commissioned Cornelius, Wardenaar and Geugten to make ground plans and drawings. (Jordaan)
There is a version (08.066) in the Baker Collection at the Royal Asiatic Society, with the same layout and border but without the ink inscriptions of 1939,0311,0.6.41. The Baker plan includes 6 larger temples and 4 smaller ones. There are plenty of pencil annotations throughout the page, including measurements and details around the temples. Top left: "Plan of the Temples called Loro Jongran near Brambanan in Java (nearest the Bandaran) - 1807 by M. Cornelius, near the village of the Carang to the right and River Opa [Opak] to the left."
