Description
Colour woodblock print, an oban triptych from an album of 117 sheets. The kabuki actors Sawamura Shirogoro II (right sheet) as Sushiya Yazaemon, Matsumoto Koshiro V (centre) as Igami no Gonta, and Iwai Hanshiro V (left sheet) as Sushiya musume Osato in ‘The Sushi shop’ scene, from Act III of ‘Yoshitsune senbon zakura’ by Takeda Izumo II, Miyoshi Shoraku and Namiki Senryu, performed at the Ichimura-za in the 9th month of 1811.
