Description
Colour woodblock print, oban triptych from an album of 117 sheets. The kabuki actors Iwai Hanshiro V as Shirai Gonpachi (right sheet), standing holding his swords, Matsumoto Koshiro V as Banzui Chobei (centre) and Sawamura Gennosuke I as Tanabe Bunzo (left sheet) in the play ‘Reigen Soga no magaki’ by Katsu Hyozo I, (Tsuruya Nanboku IV), performed at the Ichimura-za in the 4th month of 1809.
