- Curator's comments
- Ebizo had returned to perform in Edo after an absence of nine years. Like Danjuro VIII and Chojuro III (later Danjuro IX), Ichikawa Enzo I (1835-55) was also one of Ebizo’s sons. The text of this ‘kojo’ stage announcement is given in the ‘Kabuki Nendaiki’, zokuhen, pp.570-575. (P. Griffith 8/2012)
