Curator's comments
Though this scene was clearly based on Act V of ‘Kanadehon Chushingura’, the play itself was a rewriting of the Chushingura story with elements of ‘Kagamiyama kokyo no nishiki-e’ also included. (P. Griffith, 8/2012)
