Colour woodblock print, hosoban diptych. The kabuki actors (left) Nakamura Nakazo I as the Daikagura lion dancer Kakube, in reality Ushiwakamaru’s retainer Oumaya no Kisanta, and (right) Nakamura Tomijuro I as the female fox from Ubagatake, in the Tomimoto dance ‘Meotozake kawaranu nakanaka’ (夫婦酒替奴中仲, alternate reading ‘Myotozake kawaranu nakanaka’, commonly called ‘Kurama Jishi’鞍馬獅子,) by Nakamura Jusuke II, part of the play ‘Chigo torii tobiiri gitsune’ (稚児鳥居飛入狐, also written 児華表飛入狐) performed at the Ichimura-za in the 11th month of 1777 (An’ei 6).
