- Curator's comments
- Zeshin was active both as a lacquerer, a pupil of Koma Kansai II, and as a painter in the Shijo style. This untitled series of animal subjects imitates in colour woodblock the translucent ink and colour washes of the Shijo painting style. (Label copy, TTC 2000)
